Background
- The Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) oversees the medical
research that is conducted at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC),
an acute care research and teaching hospital.
- MMRF is
a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and is the third largest nonprofit
medical research foundation in Minnesota.
- Founded
in 1952 at Minneapolis General Hospital (now HCMC), the MMR's mission
is to improve patient care and the health of our community through research
and education
.
- Throughout
its history, the MMRF has been closely linked with strong patient care
programs and the training and continuing education of physicians and
scientists.
- MMRF supports
the work more than 200 investigators, including MDs, MD/PhDs, and PhDs,
and administers approximately $15 million in research funds annually.
- MMRF ranks
in the top 11% nationally of all institutions receiving research funds
from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

and Redux was instrumental in the Food and Drug Administration pulling
the drugs from the market.
