Outcomes and Clinical Research at the Berman Center
Through studies like the Women's Health Initiative (WHI), involving over 4,000 Minnesota women, MMRF researchers at the Berman Center evaluate treatments for common, chronic, and costly medical conditions. WHI, one of the largest clinical trials of women and their health, studies how changes in diet, hormone therapy, vitamin D and calcium affect cancer, heart disease and bone strength in post-menopausal women. Working with federal programs, pharmaceutical companies, managed care facilities and other research organizations, the Berman Center also evaluates treatments for conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and women's health issues including breast cancer, osteoporosis and hormone replacement therapy.
